What's New at the IT Resource Center (ITRC)?What's New at the IT Resource Center (ITRC)?The most recent release aims to improve your IT Resource Center experience in the following ways: New Look & Feel: IT Resource Center has a new look and feel to make it easier for you to find the right resources at first glance. We have created a single unified “IT Resource Center” home page and a single unified “More maintenance and support options” page to simplify the organization of resources available to you. Integrated Search knowledge base: We have combined the different search access points (“Search technical knowledge base”, “Search assistant”, “HP OpenVMS - ask the wizard” and “Search - more options”) into a new single integrated “Search knowledge base” feature making it easier for you to find the right content for your support needs.

New Look & Feel:The new “IT Resource Center” home and “More maintenance and support options” pages use the following categories to organize the resources from the previous “IT Resource Center home”, “maintenance and support for hp products” and “maintenance and support for Compaq products” pages: - Resources
- Downloads
- Support services
- Licensing
- Profile
- Additional online services
Note: “Resources” and “Downloads” are common to both pages but “Support services” is specific to the IT Resource Center home page and “Licensing”, “Profile” and “Additional online services” are specific to the “More maintenance and support options” page.
There is a new left sidebar to help you navigate quickly to the most frequently used IT Resource Center resources: - Search knowledge base
- Forums
- Patch Database
- Download drivers, software and firmware
- Warranty check
- Support Case Manager
- Software Update Manager
- Training and Education
- More maintenance and support options
Note: “More maintenance and support options” will take you to a page containing additional IT Resource Center resources not listed in the left side bar or on the IT Resource Center home page.
In the majority of cases the names of the resources remain the same or very similar between the new and previous pages. However, there are some exceptions: “Subscribe to proactive notifications and security bulletins” should be used to manage your notifications including security bulletins, patch notifications and other software and hardware notifications. This replaces the following on the previous IT Resource Center home and/or maintenance and support pages: - Subscribe to security bulletins & patch digests
- Proactive notifications OS patches
- Support information digests
“Search knowledge base” should be used to search for a wide variety of content. This replaces the following on the previous IT Resource Center home and/or maintenance and support pages: - Search technical knowledge base
- Search assistant
- HP OpenVMS systems - ask the wizard
- Search - more options
Note: “Search - more options” refers to the “more options” link located next to the search feature at the top of each IT Resource Center page. The previous interface behind the “more options” link has been replaced by the new “Search knowledge base” feature.
“Customer Self Repair” should be used to access information about HP self-repair programs and replaces the following on the previous IT Resource Center maintenance and support page: - End user replacement parts
We would also like to inform you about the “Profile” and “Additional online services” sections on the “More maintenance and support options” page: “Profile” contains links that represent the different tasks you can perform within the “My profile” area of the IT Resource Center. Clicking on any of these will take you to the “My profile” area where you can click the link that is specific to the task you wish to perform: - View or modify your user information
- View support agreements, HP Care Packs and warranties in your profile
- Link support agreements, HP Care Packs and warranties to your profile
- Share or reassign access privileges
“Additional online services” contain links to other HP online support resources. Clicking on these links will take you outside of the IT Resource Center to the specific HP online support resource: - HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition
- HP Instant Support Professional Edition
- HP Support Agreement Manager
- Software Support Online for Enterprise Software
- Training and Education
- Business Support Center for Small and Medium Business
- HP Customer Care for Home and Home Office
2. Integrated Search knowledge base:By combining the different search access points (“Search technical knowledge base”, “Search assistant”, “HP OpenVMS systems - ask the wizard” and “Search - more options”), the new “Search knowledge base” feature provides a single integrated IT Resource Center search experience. Use this feature to make it easier for you to find the right content for your support needs: content from technical support documents, patches, and manuals to Forums postings, and more. Three key things you need to be aware of to enhance your IT Resource Center search experience: Single integrated search experience: You will be taken to the new “Search knowledge base” feature when selecting the “Search knowledge base” link or the “More options” link located next to the “Search” feature at the top of each IT Resource Center page. This ensures that you will be able to search the same wide variety of content regardless of which search access point you choose. Login no longer required: The new “Search knowledge base” feature is now accessible without having to login to the IT Resource Center. You will be able to search the following content types without having to login: - Manuals, guides, reference documents
- White papers
- Drivers, software and firmware
- Forums
Note: Certain content within these content types may require login and so we recommend that you login to the IT Resource Center to search all the content that is available to you.
Logging into the IT Resource Center has its benefits, including being able to search by Document ID and being able to search these additional content types: - Advisories, bulletins, announcements
- Engineering notes, solutions, bug reports, FAQs
- Security bulletins
- Patches
Please also consider that while logging into the IT Resource Center will allow you to search the content types listed above, the extent of the content available can depend on additional authorization such as a support agreement, HP Care Pack or warranty. Associating (also known as linking) your HP support agreements, HP Care Packs and warranties to your IT Resource Center User ID will help to further maximize your search experience. This can be done using the links within the “My profile” area. Links to other HP online support resources: The new “Search knowledge base” feature also contains links to three other HP online support resources for your convenience as the product content you are looking for may be located there. Clicking on these links will take you outside of the IT Resource Center to the specific HP online support resource: - HP Customer Care for Home and Home Office
- Business Support Center for Small and Medium Business
- Software Support Online for Enterprise Software
